Dear Simcoe Chapter Members:
I hope you and your families are continuing to stay healthy and safe during these times. I know a number of you are wondering about how the Simcoe Chapter will be proceeding with programming for the upcoming future.
As you may know, we have held two virtual programs with great success during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the Province’s restrictions on gatherings likely not to lift in the near future and also in order to ensure that we have a healthy environment for our speakers and attendees, we have decided to continue with virtual programming until likely the summer of 2021, although we may revisit this decision if circumstances and restrictions change in the coming months.
We have two new exciting programs that have been developed which will be taking place as follows:
November 18, 2020: “Bringing Mass Timber to Residential Missing Middle Buildings” with Leith Moore and Mike Barker (both co-founders of R-Hauz) as speakers; and
December 9, 2020: A topic related to the GTA’s housing crisis with Michelle German (Vice President, Policy and Strategy, WoodGreen Community Services) and Craig Rutton (Policy Director, Energy, Environment & Land Use, Toronto Board of Trade) as speakers.
All members will be receiving in short order separate invitations for these virtual programs including the ability to sign up guests. There will be no cost for these programs for our members and their guests. These programs will also be made available to the other LAI chapters and we anticipate a number of the LAI International members will be interested in joining our programming.
Lastly, we are also scheduling the Annual General Meeting for Tuesday, January 12, 2021 which for the first time will be virtual. At the AGM, we will be introducing a number of new members along with presenting the President’s Award. I look forward to seeing you all at one or more of our upcoming events.
If you have any questions regarding the above or about our Chapter, please do not hesitate to email me at jason.park@devinepark.com or our Chapter administrator, Kevin Harper, at kevin.harper@sympatico.ca.Â
Thank you and continue to stay safe!
