LINDSAY DALE-HARRIS
in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the advancement of Land Economics
The 2023 President’s Award of Recognition was presented to Lindsay Dale-Harris at the Simcoe Chapter’s Annual Meeting held at the Royal Canadian Military Institute on January 10, 2024.
Lindsay Dale-Harris holds a Master of Science in Urban Planning from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the College of Fellows of the Canadian Institute of Planners. She has over thirty-five years of experience in a broad range of planning research and special purpose studies, including the preparation of Official Plans and Zoning By-laws for public agencies and the preparation of comprehensive development applications for private clients. She has worked on many applications and projects and has extensive experience as an expert witness before the Ontario Land Tribunal on land use planning and expropriation matters.
Lindsay has been associated with Bousfields Inc. since the firm was founded in 1974, becoming a Partner in 1979 and serving as President from 2005-2011. Over the course of her career, she demonstrated her mastery of planning principles and techniques in her consulting practice as well as her involvement in the development of significant planning policy and implementation tools in Ontario, which have had far reaching influence across Canada.
Lindsay has been heavily involved in a wide range of community service pursuits that contribute to the achievement of a healthy community. She has devoted considerable time and effort in the field of horticultural pursuits, including the revitalization and establishment of the Toronto Botanical Garden at Edwards Gardens. She was a member of the Board of the Toronto Botanical Garden from 1995 to 2007 and was President of the Board from 1999 to 2001. In 2007, Lindsay was the recipient of the University of Toronto’s Arbor Award (which recognizes volunteers for their outstanding personal service to the University) for her work in transforming the courtyard at Trinity College into a medieval knot garden.
Lindsay’s proven track record in planning-related education, high level administration, private consultative practice and as a pioneering role model for women in the planning profession merits Leadership recognition of the highest standard.
