Kenneth Rotenberg 1922-2020

The Simcoe Chapter extends its sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kenneth Rotenberg, a long-time member of LAI who passed away on May 21, 2020, having recently suffered a stroke. He was 97.

Ken was the son of the late Harry Rotenberg and Pearl Greisman, and husband of the late Helen Rotenberg. He was the father of Deborah Moses, Virginia Shanker, Rebecca Malamed and the late Arthur Rotenberg and the late Bettina Rotenberg; grandfather of Carina Moses, Sasha and Sammi Shanker, and Dr. Justin Silverman; and great-grandfather of Isaac Silverman.

Ken was a real estate developer who successfully developed commercial and residential real estate in Canada and the United States, first at Y&R Properties and later at Rostland. Among his most notable projects were the Richmond Adelaide Centre, the Royal Bank’s head office and the Sun Life Towers at King & University. He was presented with the Simcoe Chapter’s President’s Award in 2005 in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of land economics.

A family service was held on Friday, May 22, 2020.
